Time Marches On

The days seem to go by faster and faster these days. Tom has been working on his contract job and I have been sewing a lot. Remember how I was cleaning my hobby room? Well I came across some really pretty fabric and got sidetracked and made some placemats. I have always liked Crazy Patch and took these scraps and made these four placemats.

You can't see the whole thing but I really like how they turned out. I need to get some Scotchguard before I try to use them. I think I will make some more.  But First - I have to get back to cleaning the hobby room now.

The San Antonio house is almost finished. As soon as the new carpet is installed, hopefully this week, I will start moving in. Tom will stay here as long as he is working and the house is not sold. We need to get some of the 'stuff' out of the house before we put it on the market. Target date is now March 15th. It keeps getting pushed back. I know it will go really fast once we are able to use the other house.

The diet is going well. Another couple of pounds each. We are in a groove now.  I am really looking forward to Spring. This cold weather is a pain. Once it gets a little warmer I am going to drag out the bicycle and try to navigate the hills in the park. Wish me luck.

Until next time, God Bless and Keep You.

I see progress - Katy, TX

All of a sudden things seem to be coming together. After a couple of months of planning, the San Antonio house is finally getting close. Thank the dear Lord for Julius and Kimberly. They spent this past week getting it leveled, prepping for paint, repairing all the leaky faucets, having a plumber come and set up for a gas dryer and prepped the walls for the new paint. Lowe's came and measured for the new carpet that will be installed at the end of this week after the painting is done. A busy, busy week.

If any one needs help getting a  house ready to sell or to live in, Julius and Kimberly are brilliant at it. With the baby coming in May, Kimberly is not able to look for a permanent job so she has been working with Julius and I think they have found a great niche. He can repair anything, construct anything and supervise workers like he has been doing it for years [of course he has been doing it for years in Tulsa]. They are going to advertise Patton-of-all-Trades on Craigs List and try to start a business helping people who want to sell their homes prepare and stage their homes to sell faster. It is tough on those who don't know how. Please pray for them as they start this new venture in the Houston Metro Area.

On the Traill side, Tom started his contract with Dresser last week. He will be working 1/2 time for them for a month or two. He was so funny coming home the first day. It sure didn't take him long to remember why he retired [rofl]. Still, it is good to have a little income to pay for all the upgrades we are doing. The sewing room is coming along nicely, but I don't want to throw anything away. That is a killer.

We both lost another two pounds last week so are on track there also. I joined 24 Hour Fitness to get some exercise in and did 2.5 miles on Thursday. That was a miracle. There is a website called Allrecipes.com that has some great diabetic and diet recipes that we have been enjoying.  I found that if I see one I like and scroll down, people have reviewed the recipe and added lots of help and suggestions on cooking and seasoning. Diet food seems so bland and I really like having options. After all I AM one of the Worst Cooks in America, a title I take great pride in.  I made some sugar-free Oatmeal Pecan Cookies that are less than 55 calories and taste awesome.  We have two for breakfast in place of toast. Nice way to start the day.

Hope all of you have a great week.  God Bless and Keep You.

So much to do, So little time.

This past week has flown. I worked almost all week which was good. I did not get my hobby room cleaned up, which is bad.  I am too embarrassed to put in a picture. Forgive me all you non-messy people. Anyway, I have to get busy and finish what I started in there.

We have completed 2 rooms with new paint and cleaned the outside of the house [actually Julius did all the work]. We were hoping to get the house on the market by now but just can't seem to get there. Julius and Kimberly are in San Antonio now getting the work done on the mobile. Once it is finished we can move some of the furniture we are keeping there and hopefully can make the Katy house more 'showable.'

Tom took a contract with Dresser to finish up a couple of projects he was working on before he retired. He will have to go in one day a week but most of the work can be done from home. He is happy about that.

Neither of us knew retirement was so much work. Tom figures it will be 6 months before we can really relax. With so much to do, selling the house, moving, working part-time [although I don't think Tom will do much more part-time, he likes not getting up at 4:30 in the morning] there has been very little fun yet.  We are hoping to take a 3 month RV tour this summer after the new grandbaby is born. No idea where we will go yet but it is something to look forward to.

Well, I have to get back to that messy hobby room. God Bless and Keep you till we meet again.
